All breeding farms will produce some males that won't have a place in a breeding program. These alpacas will usually be gelded once they are old enough. Some will stay at the farm to be companions to other alpacas, to be plasma donors for breeding stock and new cria, some will even become farm mascotts and many others will move into the farm's fleece herd. For the rest, the farmer will most likely want to sell them to other farms and families where they can fulfill diverse roles in their owners' lives. This section details what the alpaca farmer can do to prepare their future geldings to move on to new families and farms. |
