Biotechnology Research Assistants research, develop, manufacture and help find ways to market countless products. They produce drugs, diagnostics, vaccines, and nutritional supplements used in the production of plants and animals. Biological manufacturers produce medications and plant products developed by research and development to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Biotechnology Research Assistants weigh and measure research substances in preparation for research. They tend machines necessary for research. They monitor equipment for research. They may inspect, weigh and test research products. All workers in the industry must follow detailed, written procedures and keep written records of work performed. These procedures and records are required by law to ensure the utmost care in the production of biological products.

Educational Requirements:

4 year degree

Suggested High School/Collegiate Courses:

Agriculture, science and computers. Advanced degree in the sciences.
