Preparing Geldings for New Jobs in New Homes
|
All alpaca breeding farms will produce quite a few males that won't have a
place in a breeding program. These alpacas will usually be gelded once they
are old enough. Some will stay at the farm to be companions to other alpacas,
some will stay to be plasma donors for breeding stock and new cria, and some
will even become
farm mascotts. For the rest, the farmer will most likely want to sell them
to other farms and families. This section details what the alpaca farmer
can do to prepare their future geldings to move on to new families and
farms.
